Product Overview

The 9" bugarabu can stand alone as a solo hand drum, but really complements any type of hand drum ensemble, with clear, loud tones that work well for low djembe parts, or as quinto in Afro-Cuban. If you need something a little more portable or for use in settings with children, this drum will be ideal. Backed up by our satisfaction guarantee this drum features, in addition to the standard bugarabu construction: * medium thick cow skin, wet shaved for comfort and improved sound * versatile size works for adults or children * lighter weight and more portable than larger bugarabu (World Percussion USA is the ONLY authorized seller of Africa Heartwood Project instruments on this marketplace. A Djembe-Bugarabu-cong mix

Posted by Lance J on May 20th 2025

Decades passed i bought a djembe from a thrift store in miami ($5). Back then i did know which culture it came from. Mm, now i know. Self taught, i played weekly. I loved that djembe.
I gave it as a gift to someone who was low in spirit. I thought it might cheer them up. We are distant now; so don't know.
Now I have this lovely Bugarabu. It is plain to look at. But it sings most beautiful. I haven't tuned it. It sounds wonderful the way it is. She Rings in the deep tunes, and slaps that crack like an alto soprano high note.
I'm loving my bugarabu. I will keep her for the rest of my days.
God's blessings to the artisans who crafted this bugarabu.
