We can only accept orders and personal information from those 18 years old or older. If you are under 18 years of age, you can use this site with a friend, parent, or guardian who is 18 years old or older.

Djembe Direct does collect information from its users - we have to in order to sell you the products you want. But we assure you that any information you provide to Djembe Direct will be used only as you expect – to sell you the best authentic African drums and accessories at the lowest prices. We only collect information relevant to your shopping experience. In fact, you may browse the site without giving us any personal information at all. CHANGES IN POLICY
Djembe Direct strives to provide the best authentic African drums and accessories at the best prices. If you have any complaints about our products or our product presentation, please contact us immediately.
Djembe Direct always attempts to be as accurate as possible when describing products. We make use of representative photos and descriptions, as it is not generally possible to list each item individually. You can reasonably expect the item you purchase to match the written description, and be very similar to the photos, but there will always be minor variances in size, design, and materials due the handcrafted, imported nature of the products. However, Djembe Direct does not warrant that product descriptions or other content of this site is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. If you receive a product from Djembe Direct or djembedirect.com and you believe it is not as described, you may return subject to our Return Policy.
All product images on djembedirect.com are actual pictures taken by Djembe Direct of the Djembe Direct products being sold, or are provided to us by the manufacturer whose product we represent and distribute. Images may be adjusted for the sole purpose of enhancing image quality but will never be manipulated to change the appearance of the product. In all cases the images shown on a product page are for display only and do not constitute a description of the item that will be received. Please read the product description carefully and follow relevant links to fully understand the contents and attributes of an item.
Many of the products on the Djembe Direct website are colored (fabric or instruments). Due to differences in monitors, video cards, and visual perception Djembe Direct cannot guarantee any colors. And because each item is hand crafted no two items will be completely identical. If you are not happy with the color of your item you may return it subject to our Return Policy.
Most of the instruments on DjembeDirect.com have sound and video clips available, which are intended to give you a sampling of what the instrument sounds like when tuned and played. All sounds and videos are recorded in our shop or on site with no editing or improvement using a small field recorder. Due to differences in speakers and audio perception Djembe Direct cannot guarantee that your instrument will sound like the sound sample. And because each item is hand crafted no two items will be completely identical. If you are not happy with the sound of your item you may return it subject to our Return Policy.
Djembe Direct maintains on-hand inventory of many of our most popular items. However, availability of any item may change at any time and is subject to change without notice. If you place an order and a product is not immediately available then a representative will contact you to inform you of the situation and try to meet your needs. Djembe Direct will never process your order (including charging your credit card) if an item is not immediately available.
- In stock: Based on current website features, In Stock means that we carry the product regularly as part of our inventory. To find out if the product is available on hand for immediate delivery please add the item to the shopping cart. If you do not see a "backorder" warning, the items is avaialable for immediately fulfillment. In cases of backordered items, you may place the order and we will fill it once the item becomes available at a future date.
- Out of Stock / Backorder:: We have recently sold out of this particular item, but it is on order with the vendor. The ETA (estimated time of arrival) gives our best approximation of when it will become available in our store. Please contact us if you would like to inquire for more details about availability of specific items.
- Special Order: This is a custom-made African product or a very rare item. We place an order for this item when you place your order. It is difficult to estimate how soon you will receive your item because there are so many variables out of our hands; our African partners deal with logistical mishaps continually and do their best to overcome. We will work hard to get your products to you as soon as possible, and will keep you updated as to the status. Generally special order items will be available from within 3 to 8 weeks.

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE:
Djembe Direct wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, and makes every effort to provide quality instruments and accessories that you will be more than pleased with. However, we do understand that it can sometimes be worrisome to purchase musical instruments site unseen. In order to eliminate your concerns we offer a conditional money back guarantee on all of our products except for media items (books, CDs, DVDs, videos, etc.). If you are not satisfied with your products you should contact us immediately and follow our instructions on how to proceed, based on your unique circumstances. After the items have arrived at our offices and have been inspected we will provide a refund of the purchase price of the item. We do not refund outbound or return shipping costs (if item was originally shipped under a free shipping promotion, a restocking fee equivalent to the cost of outbound shipping will be deducted from the refund amount). In order for you to receive the full refund amount the item must not have any visible signs of use or wear, and must not be damaged. Your refund will either be credited back to your credit card or you will be issued a company check, at the discretion of Djembe Direct, allowing 2 weeks after the item has arrived back to us for refund processing. If you fail to contact us within 3 days of receipt of item and return it within 10 days you will not be eligible for the money back guarantee, at which time the 90-day warranty and return policies apply.
Our drums and accessories are crafted with care by experienced artisans and manufacturers, with durability and sound quality in mind. However, in rare instances something may have a defect, which is why we provide a 90-day limited warranty to the end-consumer on most of our drums, instruments, and accessories, excluding media items (books, CDs, DVDs, videos, etc.). Unless specified elsewhere, all warranties cover product quality and craftsmanship only and do not cover abuse, neglect, and damages caused by any person or incident. Damages or losses incurred during shipment are excluded from this warranty (i.e. if you notice is suspect any damage to the instrument or item upon arrival you must not play, use, tune, or transport it without first contacting us). See Shipping Policies and Return Policies for more information. For natural goat, cow, or other animal skin drum heads that break during playing or tuning during the 90-day warranty period we offer two solutions: 1 - We will repair the drum for free (materials and labor), with the customer cover all shipping expenses both ways; or 2 - We will send the customer the materials required to do the repair (skin) for free, including outbound shipping. The option selected will depend on the circumstances of the damage and the wishes of the customer.
We want you to be happy with your Djembe Direct product long after the 90-Day Warranty has expired. We are drummers, but we are also consumers just like you, and as such we all expect to be dealt with fairly. This is why we want to make ourselves available to you for any African drum needs you may have. Call us anytime with questions or for recommendation. When the time comes to replace the head, we have discounted repair services available for Djembe Direct customers. Whatever the need, you can count on us to make every effort to be of assistance.
Note on Wood Splits: Because wood is a hygroscopic material it will readily take up and release water, depending on its environment. As the wood releases water to match a dryer environment, the cells contract, beginning on the surface and working in. Conversely, as moisture is absorbed the wood expands. This process will occur to some degree every time the wood is relocated to a different environment, may last for several months, and is affected by temperature. This absorption and release of water does not occur uniformly, which may cause the wood to warp, split, or honeycomb. Although our village artisans and Djembe Direct take precautions to prevent this, there is no way to avoid it altogether. Your drum may come with or develop small vertical splits or cracks in the base, neck, or belly. In some cases minor splits will have been repaired, which, although they may be visible, they do not have any sound or playability effects, and do not constitue a manufacturing defect. In rare cases a split may develop that extends all the way through the wood, in which case we encourage you to contact us.
Note on Skin Splits: Unless a drum is sold with a beater or mallet (dunun and talking drum) it is intended to be played only with bare hands. Djembes, in particular, are made with a relatively thin goat skin that is under very high tension. If struck even softly with any kind of mallet it will likely break. It is understood that the natural skin drum head is a disposable part of the instrument subject to wear and breakage, the logevity of which is subject to temperature and humidity, tension levels, playing frequency and style, storage circumstances, natural strength of the skin, and other external and internal factors. If a skin appears to be damaged upon arrival we encourage you to contact us immediately, before playing or tuning the instrument, as per our Shipping and Return Policies. For heads that break after the 90-day warranty period we offer repair services, with discounts for Djembe Direct instruments.

Djembe Direct accepts purchase orders from verifiable businesses, organization, and schools within the United States (purchase orders not accepted from outside the US). To place a purchase order you can do one of the following:
- Place the order through our website by adding items to the shopping cart and selecting "Purchase Order" as your method of payment. You will then be navigated through a form that requests information such as Accounts Receivable contacts, addresses, and so forth. Before we can accept the purchase order the individual placing the order must accept responsibility for helping to make sure the purhcase order is paid in a timely manner.

Djembe Direct wants you to be happy with your purchase. However, we understand that there are circumstances that warrant a replacement or exchange. Please read the following terms carefully.
RETURNING ITEMS FOR REPLACEMENT, EXCHANGE, OR REFUND
If you wish to return an item for any reason you must contact us immediately. We typically proceed in this manner:
- Dislike of color, sound, craftmanship, or misunderstanding of product description (30 day limit): You will be responsible for the outbound and return shipping costs to return any item, either for exchange or refund (for items shipped under a free-shipping promotion a restocking fee equal to the cost of outbound shipping will be deducted from the refund amount). We recommend you return ship the product to us using a trackable, insurable carrier, like UPS. Items must be returned in like-new condition, with no signs of use or wear or damage. For refunds the purchase price will be refunded within 2 weeks if all return conditions are met. For exchanges you will be responsible to pay for any difference in price, as well as the cost of shipping the new item to you.
- Defective, damaged, or incorrect item (10 day limit from ship date for domestic orders): You must contact us within 3 days of receipt of goods to dicuss your situation. Defective and damaged items may be considered for shipping insurance claims, which require that you submit digital photos or written descriptions of damage, and retain all packing materials. Generally a replacement item will be sent to you immediately, with a prepaid return shipping label for use in shipping the damaged/defective item back to us. We may alter the return process in your unique circumstances require it. Note that defects or damages not reported to Djembe Direct within the specified time frame will not be considered for manufacturing or shipping defects or damages, and roll over to our warranty and post-warranty coverage.
CONDITION OF RETURNED ITEMS
All items returned for exchange must be in a new or saleable condition. Items that are returned and non-saleable due to use or damage will not be accepted and will be returned to sender. The only exception to this rule is for warranty returns (see both Product Policy and the following terms for more information).
Djembe Direct cannot accept returns of any instructional media once it has been opened. No exceptions.
HOW TO MAKE A RETURN
If you have any questions about making a return please contact Djembe Direct first. Please include all original packaging, a note explaining the return, and return freight receipt. All returns must be mailed to:

Djembe Direct will not be responsible for returns that are lost or damaged in the return freight. You must deal directly with the freight company you used. Djembe Direct will do its best to cooperate.
Djembe Direct uses trusted sources of delivery to get our products to you. Please contact us if you have any questions about our shipping policy.
Djembe Direct uses UPS for the majority of domestic and Canadian shipments, large and small. We offer Ground, 3 Day Select, 2 Day, and Next Day services. We use USPS for shipments outside of the US and Canada, offering only economy air and economy surface. We may at our discretion use other shippers as well (including FedEx, DHL, the USPS, and other freight forwarders).
You will be charged the exact amount shown in your shopping cart. For some orders (including orders that exceed a certain weight) you may need to place your order via phone in order for us to custom quote your shipping charges. All of our shipping prices are actual shipping costs plus a small percentage of the total order price to cover materials. Occassionally a larger order will require a custom price quote that cannot be calculated through the shopping cart; in these cases we may phone you to authorize additional shipping charges.
Your total shipping costs will be exactly those shown on the shopping cart web page. If you are not given a shipping quote on the website (due to shipping to a country not on our list, or ordering more than 150 pounds of merchandise) than you will be contacted via email or telephone for a price quote. Regardless of where you receive your shipping quote, you will be charged that amount for shipping and there will be no refunds given based on a misunderstanding of shipping. If you ask for Next Day Air, we will ship Next Day Air and you will be billed for Next Day Air and cannot claim that you did not know how expensive it is. This is the same for all shipping methods. If we ship the wrong item to you, contact us so we can send you a return shipping slip, and we'll make sure you get the right product. (see RETURN POLICY ).
Djembe Direct will, unless otherwise noted, ship your order within 2 business dayS (Mon-Fri) of payment. If we cannot ship your order within 2 business days we will make a reasonable effort to contact you. Your order will not be processed or shipped if the entire order is not immediately available.
If you need an expedited shipment please call us immediately and we will do our best to accommodate you.
All shipments made from Djembe Direct are insured for the value of the contents. Djembe Direct will not be held liable for any inconvenience or loss caused by loss or damage during shipment (see WARRANTY). Please contact Djembe Direct to coordinate efforts and to support your claims against damaged or lost packages.
Djembe Direct will provide you with a tracking number at your request, if available.

A receipt will be emailed to you after your order is processed. We generally do not include paper receipts in our orders. If you would like a paper receipt please make note in your order comments.
You will be immediately notified if Djembe Direct cannot, for any reason, process your order.
Djembe Direct processes orders as quickly as possible. If you need to cancel an order please do so immediately via email and phone. We may or may not be able to cancel your order before it ships. If your order ships than it may only be returned as subject to our return policy.
Djembe Direct accepts the following credit cards: Visa; MasterCard; American Express. Djembe Direct also generally accepts checks and money orders that clear the bank. PayPal payments are also accepted, which should be directed to email@example.com. Djembe Direct may also decide, at its discretion, to accept purchase orders from verifiable companies or organizations.
