The African sistrum is based on the ancient Egyptian percussion device used in ceremonies and rituals. The Africa Heartwood Project sistrum is made of strong reeds, metal wire, and recycled metal bottle caps. When rattled back and forth it creates a mellow tamborine-like sound.
This sistrum features:
- 11" tall woody forks connected with wire and reed
- Two rows of 3-5 flattened bottle caps
- Handcrafted using natural and recycled materials in Ghana
- as a handmade product exact appearance may vary from photos
