At last, this highly anticipated DVD is available! Fadouba Oulare is a legendary drummer from Guinea, West Africa, who passed away in January, 2010. Known worldwide as possibly the single greatest historian of djembe music and culture, he has been extremely influential in the djembe movement in Guinea and had also become well known as a gracious teacher for students worldwide.
In this dual-layer DVD, Fadouba and his sons teach and demonstrate five traditional rhythms from their home in Faranah, Guinea. Each rhythm is broken down part by part including Kenkeni, Sangban, Dunun, Djembe and Djembe solo. Traditional solo phrases are taught and demonstrated by Fadouba and family for every rhythm. A metronome stick is played during breakdowns. |
