The Ivory Coast djembe shells are carved to specific dimensions for optimal sound performance, including a wider throat and
increased base flare. This 14" size is a bit larger than a typical full size djembe, thus giving it more volume, more playing surface, and deeper tones. The Ivory Coast djembe is a sort of mix between the Guinea and Mali shapes, with a slightly rounded bowl,
stout neck, and more rounded, flare in the stem - among the best shells carved in Ivory Coast anywhere. The Iroko wood is
medium to dark brown, evenly colored, and a little thicker than the average West African djembe shell. Covered by our satisfaction guarantee, these Ivory Coast djembe shells feature:
- Standard size bowl: ~14" top OSD wood; ~25" tall; ~10" base OSD wood, 13-17 lbs.
- Seasoned, solid wood treated with karite (shea butter) and adjusted to arid environment
- All carved of hand picked Iroko wood, legally harvested and seasoned in Ivory Coast
