The Mali cow skin is thick to very thick, folded in quarters, with hair on. The spine and back skin is suitable for larger dununba drums (largest of dunun family), with side skin the right thickness for larger bugarabu and conga, and belly skin best for kenkeni, djembes, and smaller conga and bugarabu. The Mali hides have a lot of natural oils retained in the skin. Skin Warranty: Before shipping each skin is inspected for natural flaws that may affect longevity or sound, allowing for some inevitable blemishes (scars, small holes). Because the shaving, soaking, mounting, drying, and tuning processes ares subject to the skill of the drum builder, and to the natural strength of the skin, we cannot warranty skins once they have been cut, soaked, or shaved. New skins are otherwise subject to our return policy. |
