The thick goat skin is well suited for standard and oversize djembes, and provides strong tones, thicker slaps, more durability, and greater volume. Most experienced djembe drummers are playing on goat skins of this thickness. One skin will easily rehead up to a 16" djembe, and is often large enough to rehead two small djembes. Each skin comes with hair on, without any chemical treatment, and fully sun dried and cleaned. All thick goat skins are selected from our inventory of Mali, Guinea, Senegalese, and Ivory Coast goat skins. Hair color and skin pigmentation vary, with the majority of top layer skin pigment being greyish-brown (shave deeper for whiter skin color). Skin Warranty: Before shipping each skin is inspected for natural flaws that may affect longevity or sound, and we will accept returns of new skins if a natural blemish is found upon arrival. Because the shaving, soaking, mounting, drying, and tuning processes ares subject to the skill of the drum builder, and to the natural strength of the skin, we cannot warranty skins once they have been soaked or shaved. |
