This mega-djembe has a rich sound, semi-wet (at current tuning), huge bass, deep tones, and wet slaps. After more playing and tuning this Mali djembe will become an even mix of wet/dry, with a lot of volume. The wood is rare deep purple Acajou/Djalla, and very dense. - 16.0" OSD wood, 24.75" full height, 10.75" OSD base, 24 lbs
- Beautiful dark Acajou/Djalla hardwood, solid one piece construction, uniform thickness, imported direct
- Wood seasoned and handcarved in Mali, West Africa, hydrated with lots of karite (shea butter) and coconut oil
- Thick goat skin from West Africa, wet shaved and hydrated with a bit of shea butter
- 5mm olive mix low-stretch drum rope for the 34 pairs of vertical ropes, first row of tuning started
- 4mm navy blue rope for top loops and bottom loops, single hitch loop pattern on bottom ring
- Cotton cloth used to wrap bottom and top rings, including flesh hoop to prevent rust damage to skin
- Rope handle installed underneath the verticals gives you a place to attach your strap
- Extra tuning rope included, wrapped around neck for storage
- All 1/4" rings custom fitted very tight, locking in the tension
- High durometer black rubber pad permanently fixed to the bottom edge, for wood protection and playing comfort
