Product Overview

The wasembe (wah-SEM-bay) rattle creates a very loud, high pitch, striking sound when the gourd slices clack together. Versions of this instrument exist all throughout Africa, known by different names, including ratatak, telewasa, and wasaumba. It is played with quick downward motions, causing the gourd slices to move up and down the connector stick, clacking together to make a sharp percussive sound. Covered by our warranty, this instrument features: * ~12" tall solid wood handle and connector * About 5 pairs of dried calabash * Handcrafted using natural materials in Ghana * As a handmade product exact appearance may vary from photos, and may not include ball rattle on one end (World Percussion USA is the ONLY authorized seller of Africa Heartwood Project instruments on this marketplace. All other sellers claiming above to also sell this item as described are not honest sellers, so proceed with caution.)
